Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation

At Gandhigram, we recognise that there are several sections of society that have been neglected and are denied opportunity because of their social standing or financial constraints. Through institutions like Kasturba Sevikashram, Santi School for Deaf and Dumb, Avvai Ashram and Sowbhagya Illam, we ensure that they are provided with basic amenities and acquire the skillset required to reclaim the space that rightfully belongs to them.

Both Sowbhagya Illam and Avvai Ashram provide safe spaces for children who lose out on a chance at a carefree childhood because of troubled families. We endeavor to make the children feel at home and give them an education that will enable them to carve out a place for themselves in the society. Particular attention is given to children with disabilities at the Santi School for Deaf and Dumb, where they can complete their primary and higher secondary schooling. Apart from academics, emphasis is also placed on vocational training and extracurricular activities for holistic development.

To address the deeply rooted gender disparity in society, Kasturba Sevikashram rehabilitates women beset by problems, including young widows and divorcees.  It gives us great pleasure to say that those who were a part of these institutions have taken charge of their own lives and have grown up to be upstanding citizens.
